Doggedly determined to help canines whose reputations has been maligned by the public’s misconceptions, Tia Torres– the star of the Animal Planet series Pit Bulls & Parolees and director of America’s largest Pit Bull rescue group– will share wisdom collected from her 20 years in the world of animal welfare when she makes a ‘Pit’ stop on The “P” Word Tour in Detroit, Michigan.
The one day/two-part workshop includes “Pit Bull 101,” a frank introduction to Pit Bulls which touches on every topic from history and breed identification to battling against BSL.
For those who want to follow in Tia’s footsteps, the Animal Planet personality shines a spotlight on the harsh realities of running a Pit Bull rescue. From the funds needed to help dogs in need to the legalities of operating a rescue, Tia offers an unflinching look at work that often brings more heartache than happiness.
The fee for each workshop is $75, or $100 for attending both ‘Pit Bull 101’ and ‘Rescue Me’. Animal rescue volunteers, animal shelter employees and people with a passion for helping Pitties in groups of five or more who sign up at the same time for the entire day are eligible for another discount.
