This week on Tracie Hotchner’s weekly DOG TALK® radio show and podcast:
- Saturday marks the 300th broadcast of DOG TALK! According to Tracie, “Today marks one of those milestones that popped up and bit me on the nose. How could I have ever imagined when beginning this show seven years ago that I would have managed to be on the air with different guests and topics for 300 weeks? I have my wonderful NPR station Peconic Public Broadcasting and Dr. Wally Smith to thank for his belief in me in giving me a platform for this show from the beginning and the superb engineering of Kyle Lynch who has had my back from Day One. To celebrate this 300th anniversary I invited two people to share it with me who are truly special and have done amazing things in their careers on behalf of animals. Wayne Pacelle, the CEO of the Humane Society of the United States (with whom I share a similar weekly conversation called “Humane Talk” on HSUS.org), joins me in a philosophical discussion of why paying attention to and improving our interaction with all animals makes us better people and a better society; Dr. Donna Spector (a board certified veterinary internist who is the Official Second Opinion veterinarian of the show) helps sort out the confusion around under-vaccination and over-vaccination and how to safely and responsibly protect our pets and society at large with our choices, and then discusses how to incorporate ‘people food’ into our pets’ dishes while maintaining a nutritional balance. Thank you each and every one for listening to the show all these years, and for the honor you extend to me when you take to heart the information and advice I have the privilege of sharing with you.”
FEATURE OF THE WEEK
- Give yourself the pleasure of reading Wayne’s blog about his trip to India — one of several he wrote, including Protecting Animals in India No Small Task & World’s Major Religions Call for Compassion for Animals. You can sign up to get his blog automatically so you can keep in touch with his myriad concerns about the place of animals in the human world. You can listen to any of the many weekly conversations I have had with Wayne on topics drawn from his blog on HUMANE TALK©. And you can join the Humane Society of the United States and support their work in the United States and around the world by going to humanesociety.org. There is strength in numbers, so if, for example, all you have is $5, your voice will be counted as caring about the fate of all animals who share our world.
This is one of two radio shows by pet author and canine nutrition expert Tracie Hotchner, who also hosts CAT CHAT® every Wednesday on Martha Stewart Living Radio on Sirius/XM Satellite.
