A bunny may be his trademark, but pop culture icon Hugh Hefner loves canines and cats, too. Hef and his wife Crystal have donated a painting that commemorates the launch of his famed magazine to an online auction that will help to launch a brighter tomorrow for L.A.’s homeless pets.

Through February 28th animal-loving art aficionados and fans of famous faces can bid on an original painting of Marilyn Monroe which celebrates Playboy magazine’s first cover.

Created by artist Victoria Fuller, who honored Marilyn Monroe’s birthday in 2012 with a series of 11 paintings, Marilyn Monroe Original Playboy Cover is an oil and silk screen on canvas which has been autographed by Hugh Hefner.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit The Pet Care Foundation, a non-profit which helps companion animals in Los Angeles City and County shelters.
