While only time will tell which actors will take home a coveted golden statuette at the Oscars®, A-list acting animals have already received their Pawscar accolades from the American Humane Association.
Several Rovers were recognized for their acting chops when Malcolm McDowell and Uggie announced the winners:
Zac Efron wasn’t the only star who stole the hearts of movie lovers in the Nicolas Sparks-penned romance The Lucky One— a German Shepherd named Rowdy won not only praise for his performance of Efron’s canine companion, Zeus, but also the Pawcar title of Best Man’s Best Friend. (The film also featured a Black Lab who went from an uncertain future in an East LA shelter to Tinseltown stardom thanks to Rowdy’s pet parent, animal trainer Boone Narr.)
Scotty, the charismatic canine who starred in the independent comedy Ruby Sparks, is lapping up the limelight as the recipient of Best Literary Muse.
Holding her own alongside such Hollywood heavyweights as Christopher Walken, Colin Farrell, Harry Dean Stanton and Woody Harrelson, a tiny rescue Shih Tzu named Bonny was awarded the title of Best Animal in a Leading Role for her performance in Seven Psychopaths.
