Helping to create a brighter future for homeless animals, members of the Baltimore Orioles recently struck poses with four-legged members of their home team and photogenic Fidos and felines from the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter for the upcoming BARCS 2014 calendar.
An annual fundraiser for the paws cause, when the new year arrives photos of dogs and cats with Chris Davis, Miguel Gonzalez, Jim Johnson, Adam Jones, Manny Manchata, Nick Markakis, Nolan Reimold and Matt Wieters (who also filmed the following PSA for the shelter) will help to display the days. The 2014 calendar will cost $15 when it goes on sale later this year.
Always willing to step up to the plate for pets in need, the Baltimore Orioles raised $50,000 in 2012 for the non-profit.
Far from the only sports heroes to help the resident canines and cats at the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, Torrey Smith of the Baltimore Ravens– who adopted a Pit Bull from BARCS in 2012– recently swapped a football for a bowling ball as he knocked down pins to raise funds for the shelter’s medical care fund. Vowing to help homeless animals, the wide receiver and his fiancee have requested that any fan thinking of giving the couple a wedding gift make a donation to BARCS instead.
