Over the years she’s tickled our funny bones on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Golden Girls and Hot in Cleveland, and through her real life role as an animal advocate Betty White has touched our hearts. A trustee and president emeritus for Morris Animal Foundation, the actress was happy to announce the winners of the latest round of the Orvis Cover Dog Contest, which– in the past four years– has raised more than $800,000 for The Morris Foundation’s research to prevent, treat and cure canine cancer.
“Many of our customers have lost their dogs to cancer or watched their family pet suffer from the disease,” said Mike Quartararo, Director of Pet Merchandising for the Orvis Company. “At Orvis, we want to do all we can to help find ways to cure canine cancer and better treat those suffering from it.”
The fundraising votes have been counted, and the animal-loving A-lister proudly unveiled the list of the photogenic Fidos who will grace upcoming covers of the popular Orvis Dog Catalog.
The winners are:
Dudley of Norwich, Norfolk, United Kingdom
Marley of Woodbine, New Jersey, United States
Molly of Christchurch, Dorset, United Kingdom
Walter and Grover of Springfield, Illinois, United States
Ziggy of Sanford, Florida, United States
Check out the video above to see the winning tail-waggers, and, as White says in her announcement, “Look for these beautiful dogs on the covers of Orvis catalogs in your mailbox soon.”
