By scoring nine goals in game six of the Stanley Cup playoffs Bryan Bickell took his team to victory, and by offering an assist to a puppy in peril the Left Wing for the Chicago Blackhawks has won the hearts of animal lovers.

NBC Chicago reports that right after his team’s Stanley Cup win, the NHL star (who is the proud Poppa to a Pit Bull named Bailey) saved the life of a young Pit Bull who was facing her fate at Chicago Animal Care & Control. Named Miss Stanley Pup by the athlete, while the three-month-old Pittie is waiting for her forever pet parents she is in the care of One Tail at a Time and enjoying the sights of Chicago– follow her adventures on Twitter by using the hashtags #puptracker or #wheresthepup.

Miss Stanley Pup, the latest dog to be named a Bick’s Pit of the Month, is just one of many Pit Bull type dogs who have been helped by Chicago Loves Pits, a non-profit organization founded by the sports star, his fiancee Amanda Caskenette, and animal advocate Alicia Boemi to promote a positive image of canines who have been dogged by prejudice.
