Dog devotees in The Windy City are blown away by the good news that Pit Bulls and Parolees star Tia Torres will share the knowledge she’s collected from 20 years of dogged devotion for our four-legged friends who are often hounded by prejudice when she makes a “Pit” stop in Chicago on The ‘P’ Word Tour.
Sponsored by Arcada Theatre and Onesti Entertainment and co-hosted by Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue and Tia Torres, the weekend will begin with a family-friendly meet n’ greet at Arcada Theatre on August 31st, where fans can have their photo taken with the Animal Planet personality and ask a few general questions.
The following day offers an unflinching look at Pit Bull-related topics with two workshops. As the director of Villalobos Rescue Center– the nation’s largest Pit Bull rescue– Tia Torres provides insight into subjects ranging from breed identification and proper training to the battle against BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) in “Pit Bull 101,” and offers an in-depth discussion of the harsh realities faced by those who run a Pit Bull rescue, from the funds needed to help the dogs to the legal issues that come with the territory of animal rescue, in “ResQMe.”
Admission: $35 for the August 31st Meet n’ Greet; The fee for each September 1st workshop is $75, or $125 for those who wish to attend both ‘Pit Bull 101′ and ‘ResQMe’.
When: August 31 – September 1, 2013 (Meet n’ greet from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on August 31st; ‘Pit Bull 101′ workshop from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., ‘ResQMe’ workshop from 2 -.m. – 5 p.m. on September 1st)
