As a judge on Britain’s Got Talent she helps to turn contestants’ dreams of fame from reverie to reality, and in her new role as an Ambassador for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home Amanda Holden will help companion animals realize their dream of starring in the hearts and homes of loving pet parents.

Visiting some of the 450 resident Rovers at Battersea’s facilities in south London on September 30, 2013, the actress/TV presenter stated: “I’ve always loved Battersea and have been a proud supporter for many years. My visits to the Home remind me what a truly inspirational place it is. To see how many abandoned and neglected dogs and cats find their way to Battersea every year and seeing the brilliant work that dedicated staff and volunteers do in caring for, and rehoming them is incredibly heart-warming. I sobbed my eyes out watching each episode of For the Love of Dogs on ITV and I’m really excited to be helping more animals find new homes by becoming an Ambassador for this wonderful charity.”

Speaking about Battersea Dogs and Cat’s Home’s founder, who passed away in October 1865: “It’s such a huge honour to be at the Home and to be asked to be an Ambassador. I want to do all that I can to ensure that Mary Tealby’s vision of caring for stray dogs and cats is carried on into the future for another 153 years and more. Every dog and cat deserves to live in a warm, loving home.”

Holden, who shares her home with a Yorkshire Terrier/Jack Russell Terrier named Rudie and a cat called Muffy, shares the honor of being a Battersea Ambassador with international supermodel David Gandy, TV star Paul O’Grady and famed children’s author Dame Jacqueline Wilson.

A long-time supporter of the charity, Amanda Holden will step once again on stage with fellow Ambassador Paul O’Grady OBE as a co-host of Battersea Dogs and Cat’s Home’s annual Collars and Coats Gala Ball on November 7th.
