ANNIE The Musical Helps to Raise $1 Million for Shelter Dogs

BZoXkgnCcAEeYaOWhen the curtain comes down on the Tony Award-winning musical Annie’s run on Broadway on January 5, 2014, the audience will applaud both outstanding performances by the cast and the production’s outstanding efforts to help animals who have a “Hard Knock Life.”

The show which has always offered the role of Sandy to a real-life shelter dog (with Sunny, who was saved from a Houston kill shelter, as the latest incarnation of the canine) recently teamed up with Pedigree® Brand for the “See the Show, Help a Dog” initiative, with Pedigree® Brand making a $2 donation for each ANNIE the Musical ticket sold to a paws cause.

Reaching the designated goal, following a matinee performance on November 20th cast members from the iconic musical celebrated ANNIE’s partnership with Pedigree® by presenting a check for $1 million to the Pedigree Foundation, which– through grants and the promotion of the option of adoption– strives to create a brighter “Tomorrow” for the more than four million dogs who find themselves in shelters or rescue organizations across the country each year.

(Note: For dog devotees who wish to see Sandy and Annie’s antics on stage, ANNIE The Musical will launch a US tour in the 2014-2015 season.)
