Fans of Fidos and felines can start the new year with a song in their hearts as they enjoy performances by an array of recording artists who will lift their voices for the sake of those who cannot speak for themselves at Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation’s Stars to the Rescue XXIII.
Scheduled to take the stage at the Lesher Arts Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, California on January 4th are three-time Grammy Award winner Bruce Hornsby; music icon Bob Weir. a founding member of The Grateful Dead; Grammy and Tony Award nominee Michael Cavanaugh; BROTHER, a tribal Celtic group which is the only independent band that has ever performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and By the Way, contestants on season three of The X Factor. Comedian/actor Allan Havey will also be on hand to raise spirits as funds are raised.
Proceeds from Stars to the Rescue XXIII will benefit Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), which was co-founded in 1991 by baseball great Tony La Russa and his wife Elaine to save companion animals who are facing their fate in shelters and strengthen the bond between people and pets through a variety of programs including the ARF Pet Hug Pack, which helps to brighten the days of hospital patients, the elderly at adult care facilities, school children and people in rehab centers; ARF’s All Ears Reading™ program, and the Humane Emergency Action Response Team (HEART), in which certified dogs and cats help school children who are struggling with emotional emergencies.
