As the host of Bravo network’s chat fest Watch What Happens Live he’s known for making tongues wag, but on February 23rd Andy Cohen, TV personality and proud pet parent to a rescue dog, will make tails wag as he steps into the role of Grand Marshal and host of the 21st annual Beggin’ Pet Parade.
Costume-clad canines and their human companions are invited to follow Cohen’s float down the streets of Soulard, a neighborhood in St. Louis, Missouri, in a Mardi Gras celebration that’s a Guinness Record holder as the largest line-up of promenading pups in doggie duds the world has even seen.
Post-parade, revelers and their Rovers can tap their feet to the beat of tunes by the event’s musical guests, two-time Grammy Award-nominated Barenaked Ladies; find out which Fidos will be crowned King and Queen of Barkus; cheer for sprinting Spots in the PetSmart Wiener Dog Derby in the Banfield Pet Hospital Stadium in the Market Place and visit the Banfield Pet Health Expo.
A happening with heart, proceeds raised by people’s participation in the parade benefits the Open Door Animal Sanctuary, a no-kill shelter which has saved the lives of homeless dogs and cats since the 1970s.
