John Barrowman, who has starred as action hero Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and Torchwood, has stepped into his real life role as a dog devotee for the filming of an upcoming Channel 4 series, Superstar Dogs.
Barrowman is acting as host of the new series, which will feature teams of tail-waggers and their human chums tackling such Spot-themed sports as Splash and Grab, Sprint Ball, Goal Hound and a Dogstacle Course.
The actor stated: “I have a passion for animals, dogs in particular, so I am hugely excited to be part of a sporting event for dogs and their owners that encourages teamwork, competitive spirit and a large dose of fun and laughter! Having dogs myself, I know the determination, love and commitment you need to train them- it’s not easy!”
Superstar Dogs is being sponsored by the Be Lungworm Aware campaign, which educates pet parents of the dangers of the potentially fatal lungworm parasite.
