National Justice for Animals Week

Share with fellow dog lovers!

To draw attention to the need to provide a voice in the nation’s court system for dogs, cats and all of our friends with fur, fins and feathers, the Animal Legal Defense Fund founded the annual National Justice for Animals Week. In 2022, the animal awareness week was recognized Feb. 20-Feb. 26.

What Is National Justice for Animals Week?

“No one is free when others are oppressed.”

While the author of this quote is unknown, the sentiment can be claimed by anyone with a compassion for animals in crisis.

Since the start of the special week to honor animal victims, the Animal Legal Defense Fund has provided information to help those to create change, ranging from raising awareness through viewings of ALDF videos or documentaries like Madonna of the Mills or DogTown, to ways to combat animal abuse from your home computer.

A driving force in ensuring a better future for all creatures great and small since its founding in 1979, for more information regarding ALDF’s call to action for the sake of animal crime victims, visit the Animal Legal Defense Fund.

Although the annual observation only lasts a week, those with a passion for compassion know, the struggle to stop the abuse of our furry, finned and feathered friends is an ongoing process– one which has been championed since 1979 by The Animal Legal Defense Fund.

Actress Charlotte Ross, who safeguarded the innocent as Detective Connie McDowell on the police drama NYPD Blue, stepped into her real life role as an animal advocate for a National Justice for Animals Week PSA to shine a spotlight on the need to protect animal victims of crime.

The Animal Legal Defense Fund’s National Justice for Animals Week page offers inspiration with a list of America’s Top 10 Animal Defenders; ways to help animals in need from your home computer; the chance to take action by downloading the ALDF Crime Tips app, and much more.
