kinky-woodrow-bestBy raising their voices in song, iconic country crooners will raise funds for a paws cause at Concert for Utopia.

Taking place at the Cailloux Theater in Kerrville, Texas on April 13th, Texas troubadour/novelist and former Texas gubernatorial candidate Kinky Friedman will join Big G as hosts of the event, which will feature performances by:

  • Nine-time Grammy Award-winning band Asleep at the Wheel with frontman Ray Benson.
  • Grammy-nominated tunesmith Billy Joe Shaver, who has sung with legends like Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson, and who is known by fans of Adult Swim Television for the theme song to Squidbillies.
  • Honky tonk/rockabilly recording artist Jesse Dayton, who has worked with Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Rob Zombie. (Dayton will take the stage in a tribute to George Jones.)
  • Singer/songwriter Chet O’Keefe

A happening with heart, all of the proceeds from the toe-tapping concert will benefit our tail-wagging chums at Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch, a ‘never-kill’ animal sanctuary in Medina, Texas established by Kinky Friedman, his sister Nancy Parker-Simons and her husband, Tony Simons. Since 1998 the non-profit has been a sanctuary not only for dogs who need forever homes, but also cats, farm animals and wildlife.

When: April 13, 2014 at 3:30 p.m.

Where: The Cailloux Theater at 910 Main Street in Kerrville, Texas
