ShankmanKnown for judging the fancy footwork of competitors on the hit Fox series So You Think You Can Dance, choreographer/director Adam Shankman has waltzed away with the hearts of dog devotees for stepping out in front of the camera with his canine companion in the web series Rescue Waggin’: Tales from the Road.

Following in the footsteps of fellow famous friend of Fidos (actress Kristen Bell, who starred alongside her two tail-wagging chums in the first of eight webisodes), in episode two the director of A Walk to Remember takes a walk down memory lane, reminiscing about the day that Jake– a dog placed in a box outside of an Idaho grocery store– came into his life.

Over the course of the web series viewers will also spot cameos by other Spot-loving celebrities, including Poison frontman Bret Michaels and actor Josh Duhamel.

Narrated by Duhamel (whose production company, Dakotakid Media, has helped to launch the web series), Rescue Waggin’: Tales from the Road will follow pups traveling in PetSmart Charities rescue vehicles as they make a trek toward a new life with forever families.

Since its start in 2004, 70,000 companion animals have been saved thanks to the PetSmart Charities Rescue Waggin’ program, which transported 11,000 pets in 2013 in eight trucks which traversed to 41 animal shelters at 19 different destinations.
