LongoriaHitting home runs to help animals in need of forever homes, for the third straight year the third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays is stepping up to the plate for the dogs and cats at Pet Pal Animal Shelter.

Hoping to add to the more than $20,000 which he has generated for the no-kill Florida non-profit organization over the course of the past two years, each time Evan Longoria hits a home run during the 2014 season Bright House Sports Network, the Tampa Bay Rays, Ducky’s Sports Lounge and Longoria will each make a $100 donation to the shelter.

The sports star, who– along with his fiancée, Jamie Edmondson– is a proud pet parent to rescued rovers Jango (a nine-year-old Bull Terrier) and Tatum (a five-year-old Boerboel Mastiff), is happy to once again help the paws cause. “Jamie and I are proud to continue to support our local nonprofit, no-kill shelter for the third consecutive year,” Longoria said. “We are very grateful for the support of our partners and we look forward to the continued growth of a project we both care about deeply.”

“We are so grateful to Evan and Jaime and the Tampa Bay Rays for once again going to bat for Pet Pal Animal Shelter,” said Pet Pal Executive Director Scott Daly. “Every home run means that another animal’s life will be saved and another family will find a new best friend.”

Since the 1980s Pet Pal Animal Shelter, which is located in St. Petersburg, Florida, has helped to save the lives of companion animals who are facing their fate in kill shelters.
