Soap Star Melody Thomas Scott Adopts a Shelter Dog

MelodyActress Melody Thomas Scott, who has portrayed the character of Nikki Newman on the hit daytime drama The Young & The Restless for more than 35 years, recently accepted a real life role as a loving pet parent to a shelter dog.

Reilly, a one-year-old Chinese Crested Terrier mix from the South Los Angeles Animal Shelter , has been cast as the Scott family’s new fur baby. The actress revealed to About.com that she and her husband Ed Scott (a supervising producer on another CBS soap, The Bold & The Beautiful) fell in love with the pup while scouting for a location to shoot scenes for a three-episode B&B storyline which will promote pet adoption. Airing from April 30th through May 2nd, the pet-centric episodes will include actors Scott Clifton and Kim Matula, animal behaviorist Brandon McMillan from the CBS Saturday morning rescue-themed series Lucky Dog, and TV icon Bob Barker.

Now sharing the Scott household with her  two new four-legged siblings (dachshunds Luca and Lola), since her adoption little Reilly has enjoy posing for photos, which her famous Mom shares with fans on Twitter:
