33349388-235x300As a former running back for the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers he’s known for his moves on the football field, but on April 19th two-time Super Bowl champ Preston Pearson will shine a spotlight on dance floor moves as the host of Paws in the City’s Top Hat & Tails fundraiser.

Taking place at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas, Texas, the annual event will begin in the museum’s parking lot with dogs and cats from Paws in the City and Dallas Animal Services who are hoping to waltz away with the heart of a loving pet parent during North Shore Animal League America’s Tour for life adoption event, going on from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m.

The swank soiree will include:

  • commemorative snapshots in the #tagmebro photo booth
  • the chance for attendees to raise a toast to our tail-wagging chums with cocktails from Heinekein, Smirnoff, Bulleit and Legend of the Vine
  • a three-course meal catered by Wendy Krispin
  • the presentation of the St. Francis of Assisi Award to Robert “Skip” Trimble, who has put his legal talents to work through the Texas Humane Legislation Network, the Metroplex Animal Coalition, the Animal Shelter Commission, the Animal Legal Defense Fund, and the Dallas County District Attorney’s office, where he was instrumental in establishing an Animal Cruelty Prosecutor.
  •  a silent auction led by Pearson and emcee Scott Murray, an Emmy Award-winning broadcaster

Taking steps to create a brighter tomorrow for Dallas area companion animals, the following local celebrities will step out on to the dance floor and boogie to the beat of totally 80s tunes:

  • Jolene Devito, KTXD Broadcaster and Talent Coach, dancing The Hustle with Justin Brown
  • Teresa Frosini, CBS 11 Anchor and Reporter, dancing Jitterbug with Nicholas Stevens
  • JP Piccinini, Real Estate Mogul and Entrepreneur, dancing a medley with Lindsey Jordan
  • Carol Roberts, Community Relations & Partnership Marketing Manager at Albertsons, dancing the Rumba with and Paul Rodriguez
  • Amy Vanderoef, Host of WFAA’s Good Morning Texas, dancing Tango/Cha Cha with Ryan West
  • Brooke Williamson, ESPN Sideline Reporter, swing dancing with Ian Kelle

The following celebrity judges will award one lucky pair with the coveted Lucy Trophy:

  • former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Drew Pearson
  • WFAA sportscaster George Riba
  • owner of Arthur Murray Studios DFW Claudia Marshall

After watching the contestants cut a rug, guests are invited to bust a move to hits from Michael Jackson, Madonna and Joan Jett.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Paws in the City, an all-volunteer, no-kill organization which strives to lower the staggering statistic of 200,000 dogs and cats who lose their lives each year across the Metroplex by providing medical treatment, sterilization and training, and by finding forever homes for animals in need.
