613QKLi9FmLAt the 2014 Grammy Awards she stepped on stage to receive accolades for Best Country Song and Best Country Album, and this summer Kacey Musgraves will win the admiration of animal lovers when she steps up to the mic at Lulu’s Barkin’ BBQ fundraiser to help homeless pets in the Denver area.

Shortly before joining superstar Katy Perry as the opening act on her tour, on August 1st the “Merry Go ‘Round” singer (and proud pet parent to her three-legged rescue dog, Pearl) will croon tunes at a private Castle Pines estate during a benefit which will also feature live and silent auctions, a gourmet repast from Perini Ranch Steakhouse, and adorable, adoptable dogs, cats and horses.

The annual event will benefit the Rocky Mountain region’s largest community-based animal welfare organization, Dumb Friends League. Established in 1910, (when the word ‘dumb’ was used to refer to the fact that animals have no voice, and that those with compassionate hearts must speak out on their behalf), in 2013 the organization helped to create a better tomorrow for 16,762 companion animals.
