Share with fellow dog lovers!

A country music superstar who wears her heart on her sleeve in hit songs like “Over You” and “The House That Built Me” recently rolled up her sleeves to help create a brighter future for dogs in shelters across the country.

Paint brush in hand, multi-platinum-selling multi-pet parent (and founder of MuttNation Foundation) Miranda Lambert joined family, friends and more than 50 Pedigree associates at the shelter in her hometown of Tishomingo, Oklahoma. The event was to kick off Pedigree’s shelter renovation project, which will provide both nutritious food for dogs in need of forever homes while it provides sustenance for the souls of animal lovers as improvements are made to a shelter in each state in the continental U.S.

Speaking about the project, Lambert stated: “I’m so happy to be working with Pedigree because they are as committed as I am to helping all these beautiful dogs find loving homes. I started supporting this shelter to ensure every dog in my hometown would have a safe place to stay and enough food to fill their bellies. And, Pedigree has helped me deliver on both those promises.”

Thanks to Pedigree Brand, Pedigree associates, GreaterGood and community volunteers, dogs in select shelters across America will enjoy upgraded play areas and spruced up kennels as new signage points potential pet parents to the improved facilities.

The shelter renovation project is part of the documentary-style See What Good Food Can Do storytelling campaign, which has included Boston Red Sox designated hitter (and doting Dad to dogs Foxxy and Happy) David Ortiz, who stepped up to the plate with Pedigree to shine a spotlight on Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem, Massachusetts, and actor Josh Duhamel, who met adoptable dogs at The Humane Society of Utah.

How You Can Help

Just as Miranda Lambert, Josh Duhamel and David Ortiz have shared their stories of the four-legged friends who have played important roles in their lives, dog devotees nationwide are invited to tell their tales of the dogs who have touched their hearts, and help shelter pets in the process. For each story shared on social media (Facebook, Twitter or Instagram) using the hashtag #DogTales, Pedigree–which has allocated more than 20 million pounds of food to shelter dogs since 2008– will donate an additional bowl of food to a shelter in need.
