Making a big splash in the literary world, on July 9th a surfing canine with a calling to help both people and pets turn the page to a new chapter in their lives will pawtograph copies of her new international bestseller.
Two-and four-legged fans of SURFice dog Ricochet can meet not only the totally tubular tail-wagger at Barnes & Noble in San Diego at a signing of Ricochet: Riding a Wave of Hope with the Dog Who Inspires Millions, but also Ricochet’s human, author Judy Fridano, and several of the individuals whose stories of how their lives have been touched by Ricochet are told in the book, including retired Staff Sergeant Randy Dexter, who developed PTSD after serving in Iraq; Ian McFarland, who suffered a brain injury in a car crash which took the lives of his parents; West Butner, who defied the odds against autism, and Ricochet’s shoe-loving sister, Rina.
The free event will include a Q&A session, discussions, and– for those with a proof of purchase of Ricochet’s book– a free paw it forward wrist band, a pawtographed bookmark, trading cards, stickers and treats. (Note: All dogs in attendance must be well-mannered.)
Ricochet: Riding a Wave of Hope with the Dog Who Inspires Millions is the tale of a pup who decided to blaze her own path to help others. Her penchant for chasing birds on the beach may have ended Ricochet’s dream of being a service dog, but the clever canine soon learned that her special surfing skills could raise both people’s spirits as well as funds for a variety of charities. (In keeping with Ricochet’s philanthropic nature, a percentage of sales from the tome will benefit causes that are close to the heart of the surfing dog and her pet parent, Judy Fridano.)
When: July 9, 2014 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Where: Barnes & Noble at Mira Mesa- 10775 Westview Parkway in San Diego, California
