Banfield Pet Hospital’s new location in Bloomington, Minnesota hit a grand slam with its grand opening on August 23rd with a fun Pet and Owner Look-A-Like Contest which had pet parents ‘pitching’ the idea that they are their tail-wagging chum’s twin to former Minnesota Twins player Kent Hrbek.
Basing his final decision on overall resemblance, creativity/originality and audience response, the baseball great soon discovered that all of the competing pairs of pups and their human pals had brought their A game:
First up to bat, Boone the Beagle from Burnsville, Minnesota slipped on some shades to strike a pose with his two-legged buddy:
Kent Hrbek could see that mixed breed dog Dixie Susan is a MVP (Most Valuable Pup) in the eyes of her Mom, Bev Miles:
Putting on their game faces, pet parent Irene Sawh and her ‘dogg’elganger Benji impressed the former Major League Baseball star:
Covering all the bases, Kent Hrbek took another look at Boone the Beagle, as well as doting dog Dad Matt Berg and his identical four-pawed pal, Nika the Siberian Husky:
It was a close game, but in the end Dixie Susan and Bev Miles knocked it out of the ballpark with their “Twinning” looks. The pair won a year’s worth of free preventative veterinary care through Banfield’s Optimum Wellness Plan and two Dugout Box tickets for a 2014 Minnesota Twins game.

While Kent Hrbek had to choose one competing team to be the top dog in the Pet and Owner Look-A-Like Contest, the real winners of the grand opening day are pets in the Bloomington area, who can now receive care from the largest veterinary practice in the world in their own home town. Founded in 1955, today there are more than 850 Banfield Pet Hospitals in the United States and Puerto Rico.
