Anthony Head Celebrates 20th Year of Dog Rescue

Share with fellow dog lovers!

Actor Anthony Head, who has brought such diverse characters as Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and King Uther Pendragon in Merlin to life on the small screen, recently helped to celebrate the 20th anniversary of a dog rescue organization that offers a new lease on life to greyhounds and lurchers.

Stepping into his longtime role as Honorary Friend of Greyhound Rescue of Western England, the star (who will soon be seen in cinemas in the true tale of A Street Cat Named Bob) and his wife Sarah Fisher welcomed rescue volunteers, adoptables and dogs who have found forever families to love thanks to the non-profit charity on to the grounds of their Tilley Farm for the charity’s birthday party.

As birthdays are a time of both reflection and new beginnings, the charity (which is the leading greyhound rescue charity in England and Wales) chose the day to officially unveil its new name. Now to be known as Forever Hounds Trust, the non-profit will continue its mission to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome sighthounds of all ages. Each year approximately 500 dogs who find themselves in need of homes after being sent to a shelter or relinquished by a guardian or trainer, are united with loving pet parents thanks to the organization.

Along with being a friend to Forever Hounds Trust, Anthony Head’s real life role as an animal advocate has also lead him to show his support for other animal welfare charities. Over the years the actor has used his star wattage to shine a spotlight on Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, Dog Rescue Federation, Dogs Trust, Senior Staffy Club, Wood Green Animal Charity, Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary and Cats Protection, as well as a number of organizations which care for our other friends with fur, among them Secret World Wildlife Rescue and Animals Asia.

Anthony Head recently starred in a PSA to explain the compassionate work of Forever Hounds Trust:
