Petco, San Diego Padres Celebrate the “Dog Days of Summer”

Share with fellow dog lovers!

Batting a thousand with both baseball buffs and their buddies who bark, for the 13th consecutive year Petco and the San Diego Padres welcomed both two-and four-legged sports fans to Petco Park for the “Dog Days of Summer.” More than 500 dogs enjoyed the opportunity to watch the Padres play ball against the Atlanta Braves on June 29th.

Accompanied by his fur baby Neptune, actor Derek Theler from the FreeForm series Baby Daddy literally stepped up to the plate as the host of the event as he threw out the ceremonial first pitch. The star and his sports-loving Spot also attended a pre-game “Tail”Gate party which included fun craft activities, contests for canines, a pet parade, family photo ops with their furry friends, and even a chance for our tail-wagging chums to drink a toast to good times in the doggie “beer” garden.

Some dogs were sitting in the cat bird seat as they cheered on their favorite team from the comfort of The Barkyard, presented by Petco. The stadium’s six, semi-private suites are available starting at $98 for four tickets, and offers people and pups a viewing area complete with umbrellas, artificial turf to keep our pals’ paws cool, an in-seat menu service, a designated pet relief area, a free gift bag for dogs from Petco, and a Padres pet concierge:
