Introducing Event Barkers

Just the other day, a fellow writer asked me about the BlogPaws conference (we’ve got three under our perfect attendance belt now with a fourth on the calendar) and BarkWorld Expo (I attended and spoke at my first one this fall and have next year’s on the calendar, too). She wanted to know if we’d made some good contacts in the pet industry and among fellow bloggers.

And I answered with a resounding yes. It’s hard to believe that, in less than two years, we have made so many great contacts among pet brands and bloggers alike. And not only contacts but great friends as well.

And here’s one example: Carrie Boyko of All Things Dog Blog. I knew Carrie from her blog and had the chance to meet her in person at the second BlogPaws (in Denver). At the third BlogPaws this past summer, Carrie and I started talking about Twitter parties, a fun way for brands to introduce new products and for consumers to get to hang out for an hour or two on Twitter and win prizes and say hi in virtual space to buddies. Just a few weeks after BlogPaws, Carrie and I were both at BarkWorld Expo in Atlanta and talked some more. Soon we were planning our first Twitter party.

Now we’ve got four events under our belts with more in the plans. We’ve formed Event Barkers, a way to help pet-related companies get the word out about their company, new products, and special promotions via social media.

Right now, Event Barkers is hard at work on a big charity event. One hundred percent of the proceeds from Super Dog Sunday on February 5 will benefit Petfinder Foundation thanks to our sponsors: Wag, PetHub, Tom Bihn, and Gringa Loka.

We’ll be building up to the big photo contest and blog hop of Super Dog Sunday with a Twitter party this Sunday: #SuperDogPics, featuring the expert photo tips of  Life+Dog magazine publisher Brett Chisholm. As with our previous parties, we’ll have TONS of prizes but be sure to RSVP here for the party, scheduled for Sunday, January 22, 3 PM-4:30 PM EST. Watch for a full list of Sunday’s prizes later this week!

If you have a pet-related business and you’d like to get the word out about your company, please drop us a line and let us know how Event Barkers can help you achieve your goals in 2012!
