We’re Compiling a Dog Cookbook…And Want YOUR Help!

We are SO excited to announce our next big project: a cookbook! We’re compiling a cookbook exclusively featuring dog treats, and we would like YOUR help!

This paperback cookbook will be a community effort…we’re looking for your favorite recipes that you have developed. We’ll be donating 20 percent of the proceeds of this book to rescue so we think this will be a great way to help raise money for rescues (with the designated rescue for the donation selected every quarter by DogTipper readers!)

Titled My Dog Says I’m a Great Cook!™, this book will feature your recipes (please do not take any recipes from other cookbooks, only ones you have substantially modified for your own use.) We’ll be adding our own treat recipes along with tips on everything from what NOT to feed your dog to baking for your dog to food storage. We’ll also be responsible for all of the editing of the book.

We’re very excited about this project; we’ve written four cookbooks in the past (above) including Texas Barbecue, which won the Mid-America Publishers Association annual award for best regional book. But this is our FIRST dog cookbook!

As the project moves along, we’ll be getting your input on the cover design, too! When the book is published, we’ll have a giveaway to provide 25 contributors with copies. (We’ll also have books available wholesale or they can be sold through the Amazon affiliate program if you have your own blog and would like to do some fundraising of your own or supplement your blog income!)

For now, though, we’d like to start collecting recipes!

How to Contribute

You’ll find the recipe submission form below. You may enter multiple recipes if you like. There is no guarantee that your recipe will be used as we have a limited number of pages. If more than one person submits a very similar recipe, the one submitted first will be used.

Although we’re looking for all kinds of treat recipes, we can’t accept recipes that include ingredients harmful to dogs including onions, grapes, raisins, macadamia nuts, or chocolate. You’ll find a larger list of ingredients to avoid here.

You’ll find a place to enter both the recipe and a bio note where you can promote your favorite rescue, your own blog or pet-related company (with the exception of companies that sell pets via the Internet), or just tell us more about your dog! (If you enter multiple recipes, you may have a different bio note on each.)

The form also includes a place to attach a photo if you like; although we won’t be including many reader photos in the book, we’ll create some special thank you and promotion pages on DogTipper with photos and links. If you have a blog, we’ll link to your blog in our thank you section.

Remember, we’re looking for original DOG TREAT recipes–biscuits, training treats, frozen treats, treats for stuffable bones and toys, party treats, special occasion treats (from Valentine’s goodies to spooky Halloween treats), and more.

Have fun…we can’t wait to see your recipes!
