#PetsAddLife to Our Home

Share with fellow dog lovers!

Someone asked us the other day about our family so we explained that we had a large family. We proceeded to list all the members besides the two of us: Irie, Tiki, Felix, Linus, Inca, and Coco.

Although we might not have any children at home, we definitely do feel that we have a large family. Six pets in our home means there’s always plenty of action and interaction (thankfully most of it positive).

Every pet has a distinct relationship with every other pet. Tiki may be youngest but she’s definitely a big sister to Irie. Felix loves the dogs. Linus will lie side by side with Irie but not with Tiki. Coco doesn’t like to eat with Felix. Inca loves everyone.

Since we married, we have never had a time without pets in our home. The numbers have changed and the ratio of dogs to cats has changed on occasion. We’ve also had many fish and will always remember Seymore, a fish we rescued from a bait store, who lived for five years. We always have had, not just one pet, but numerous. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Pets Add Life is a national, non-profit campaign dedicated to promoting the positive role pets play in the health and well being of people, families and communities.

As lifelong pet lovers, it’s a message that we definitely agree with both in terms of our home but also in our interaction with others. Walking our dogs gets us out and has helped us meet our neighbors better than any party or social event ever could. Being part of the larger community of pet lovers has helped us meet many of our more distant neighbors as well. In the past year, we’ve found several lost dogs and returned them to some very happy neighbors, each of whom we didn’t know previously but, thanks to the shared bond of pet appreciation, we got to know.

In the coming months, we’ll be bringing you more about the Pets Add Life or PAL campaign. In the meantime, you can learn more on the PAL Facebook page and through the PAL videos.

For now, though, we’d like to know about YOUR pack. Check out the discussion on our Facebook page or leave a comment below. We’d love to hear about your pets. Do you have all dogs? Cats? A mix? Other pets? Share your pack!

This post is sponsored by the Pets Add Life campaign and the American Pet Products Association. We are  being compensated for helping spread the word about the benefits and joys of pet ownership…but it’s a topic that we talk about all the time anyway 🙂
