The Week Ahead: #MeetNPPC, Agility, and More!

It’s hard to believe that Monday marks the beginning of October…September, where did you go? We’ve recently taken on more freelance work so we’ve been very busy; along with our weekly Pet360.com column on rescue and animal welfare and our new “Bowser on a Budget” column for FIDO Friendly magazine, we’re now updating a travel book: Day Trips from Houston (Globe Pequot). Our deadline for the book revision is coming up in early November so, needless to say, we’ve been working even more than usual lately! The coming weeks promise to be very busy, too:

#MeetNPPC. If you’re on Twitter, watch for the #MeetNPPC hashtag. I’ll be flying up to St. Louis on Wednesday along with about a dozen other dog and cat writers and tweeting with this hashtag. (John will be here with our pack.) I’ll be meeting with Purina and touring Purina Farms, a tourist attraction near the city; I’m especially excited that I’m going to have the chance to learn more about the company’s shelter welfare programs and to take part in a hands-on dog competition experience with the Purina Pro Plan Performance Team! On Saturday, I’ll be attending the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge Finals but, first, I’ll be attending Purina Pet Project Event, where volunteers work on special projects for local shelters and rescues. I’m looking forward to bringing you lots of photos from the events!

Halloween. Watch for lots of Halloween-related coverage coming up starting this week!

Super Dog Sunday™. With the changing weather and the numerous football games on our TV lately, my thoughts have been turning to Super Dog Sunday™, the charitable photo contest and blog hop we co-host with All Things Dog Blog during the Super Bowl. We’ve just started making plans for this annual event which benefits Petfinder Foundation. Pet companies: we’ll be looking for sponsors for this 100 percent charitable event soon, and we have limited sponsorship slots. Please contact us at eventbarkers@gmail.com to learn more about this growing event!

Wonder Pet Expo Dallas. On October 20, we’ll be exhibiting along with Preston Speaks at Wonder Pet Expo Dallas, and I’ll be speaking about ways to save money on your pet’s care. If you’ll be in the DFW area that Saturday, please mark your calendar and come out and see us!

BarkWorld Expo. Near the end of October, I’ll be attending BarkWorld Expo in Atlanta. If you’ll be attending, too, please let me know so I can be sure to meet you!

Whew, it’s going to be a busy October!! We hope your month is off to a great start!! –Paris
