#PetsAddLife … And Laughter

National Get a PAL for Your Pet Day, November 19, is fast approaching. Even though we have six pets in our household, this is a topic that is under constant discussion. Last year I really wanted to add an aquarium to our home for the enjoyment of both our dogs and our cats. We’ve had many fish in the past but, for the past several years, we’ve been fishless. And we remain fishless. (That doesn’t mean I’ve given up the idea of another pet; I find myself looking at puppy listings on Petfinder more and more often these days…)

Our pets are a constant source of joy in our household, an excuse to stop working and just enjoy the day, whether that means a morning walk with the dogs or an afternoon bout of laughter brought about by our cat Coco, seen below attacking the printer. (I tried not to take this as a commentary on my writing…)

Whether you want to add another pet to your household or not at this time, there are many ways you can help pets find happy homes. Right now, Pets Add Life is hosting the Help a Shelter Out Contest, with a $10,000 grand prize for one lucky shelter…and you can vote through November 16! On November 17, you can take party in a Twitter #BlogPawty to celebrate the joy of multiple pets (and win prizes!) Or you can share the joy of pets with young animal lovers through the PAL poetry contest. And on a day-to-day basis, you’ll always find furry fun on the @PetsAddLife Twitter account and on the PAL YouTube channel.

We’re hopping along in a blog hop with more posts around the pet blogosphere about the joy of multi-pet households!

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by the Pets Add Life campaign and the American Pet Products Association. We are being compensated for helping spread the word about the benefits and joys of pet ownership…but this is a topic we’re always excited to talk about 🙂

  • It was always a tough question for us whether Kelly wanted a pal or not. Although she’s quite jealous of Brooks, I think it’s been basically a positive for her as well. I’ll spread the word about this day!

    • Brooks is just adorable! I think dogs relate to each other in ways we never can, as much as we try. I just love watching the interaction between Tiki and Irie…and I enjoy watching each dog’s relationship with our four cats. They’re quite a pack! Paris
