Rescue a Cat!

Did you know that every year about four MILLION cats go into the shelter system? Sadly, many of those never make it out…

You’ll find so many great adoptable cats at shelters and rescues, regardless of whether you’re looking for a kitten or older cat, a Siamese or a former street cat. Several online services make it easy for you to see the cats available in your area and get more information about their background when it’s available.

Petfinder.com

Petfinder.com lists cats (and dogs, goats, birds, you name it!) searchable by zip code, breed, age, size, and gender.

Adoptapet.com

Adoptapet.com (formerly 1-800-Save-A-Pet) features cats and dogs (plus other pets from gerbils to birds), all searchable by city name or zip code. They’ve also got a great “Twitter a Critter” program that makes it easy to send out a tweet to all your Twitter friends about a particular animal; for more, visit http://www.adoptapet.com/twitteracritter/
