Actress Portia de Rossi, who first gained fame on the Fox series Ally McBeal, has joined with Alley Cat Allies for a campaign that shines a spotlight on those who show compassion for our purring pals. “I’m very happy to be involved with Alley Cat Allies and their efforts to help stray and feral cats,” stated the famous friend to felines, who– along with Ellen DeGeneres– is a proud parent to three rescue cats called Charlie, Chairman and George. “The Trap-Neuter-Return approach is the only way to help contain the populations and save their lives.”
According to Becky Robinson, the president of Alley Cat Allies, “Millions of Americans have opened their hearts and wallets to stray and feral cats. A national survey by the respected research organization Harris Interactive found that over 40 percent of Americans have fed a stray cat in their lives, and one out of five has done so in the past year.” Many caring communities have also initiated Trap-Neuter-Return programs in their neighborhoods, which allows cats to live out their lives in their original outdoor domains without the worry of adding to the population of homeless pets.
