Catherine the Cat in “Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore”

Will Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore claw its way to the top in the battle for box office supremacy when the spy spoof is unleashed in theaters July 30th? If so, it will be with the help of actress Christina Applegate, who gives a voice to Catherine the cat. The former Married…with Children star was no doubt inspired for her portrayal of a four-pawed secret agent by the many feline friends who have brought joy into her life over the years. One member of her kitty clan– a tuxedo cat called Kaanaloa– was even immortalized in a portrait for the 2001 coffee table book Pets and Their Celebrities by celebrity pet photographer Christopher Ameruoso, who captured for posterity the image of Applegate not only with her purring pal, but also with two barking buddies, a Shepherd known as Sybil and a white Lab called Jackson.
Although many of Catherine the cat’s cunning spy moves are computer generated, the cat whose charisma shines through in the movie works for Boone’s Animals for Hollywood, which has supplied tail-wagging talent for a bevy of big screen favorites, including the simian who got to monkey around with Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean, Snowball the cat in Stuart Little and even tiny Mr. Jingles from The Green Mile.
