The beauty of the cat has always captivated creative souls, and a fascination with her own felines has led artist Vicki Boatright (known as BZTAT) to produce painted panels of her purring pals that will soon be shared by visitors to Canton, Ohio’s Arts District.
On August 6, 2010 at 7:30 pm, art admirers and animal lovers will gather for the dedication of BZTAT’s four-panel mural, “Downtown Cats.” Boatright’s four rescue fur babies Noah, Slick, Who and Brewskie Butt (a feline who has gained fame through Twitter, Facebook and his own website, Just Meowin’) acted as meowing muses for the mural, their images transformed into 4 to 5-foot-tall cats perched on window-shaped panels reaching 8 feet high, which will adorn the exterior wall at 201 Fifth Street NW.
Inspired by the “Be the Change” movement begun at BlogPaws, the dedication will also serve as an opportunity for adoptable dogs and cats from Friends of the Pound and Second Chance for Animals, Inc. to find forever families.
Animal and art lovers unable to attend can watch the event live on Ustream.
