First Lady Laura Bush with Miss Beazley

President And Mrs. Bush Show Off New Puppy

When then 10 week old Miss Beazley became a part of the Bush family in early 2005, she had First Dog Barney, her new big brother, to show her around the White House. The Scottish Terrier, who also answers to the affectionate nickname Beazley Weazley, was a birthday present from President George W. Bush to his wife Laura, who picked for her puppy a name inspired by a character from the Oliver Butterworth children’s book “The Enormous Egg.”

Miss Beazley and Barney’s years at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue have been preserved for posterity in a number of cute video clips, such as the following:
