Jayne Mansfield and Her Dogs

“I’d like ten more babies and ten more chihuahuas and a few Academy Awards.” Although Jayne Mansfield never had the chance to achieve her goal of winning an Oscar, the blonde bombshell did live to see her dream of a dog-filled home become a reality. The girl couldn’t help it– she adored all animals and was a proud parent to a number of fur babies over the years, including a Pekingese named Powder Puff and a Great Dane dubbed Lord Byron.

Although a pal to all with paws, the chihuahua seemed to be the star’s preferred pooch. Two of her little loves– Popsicle and Momsicle, hold a tiny place in TV history, as a photo of the darling dogs with the ’50s siren rests on the desk of Detective Olivia Benson, the Law & Order: SVU character portrayed by Mansfield’s daughter, Mariska Hargitay.
