Mickey Rourke and His Dog, Jaws

Having struggled with adversity and his own dark demons, The Wrestler‘s Mickey Rourke could recognize a fragile soul hiding behind a fierce facade when he first set eyes on this abused chihuahua at an animal shelter. Biting Rourke when the actor bent down to give the pooch a kiss, the scared dog left a mark on the movie icon’s mouth which required stitches. However, the celebrated dog devotee understood that time, love and a forever home was all that was needed for this darling dog to turn his life around. The incident even inspired the chihuahua’s name– Jaws.
Jaws is fast becoming as well known as his famous Poppa, even appearing alongside the Golden Globe winner on a PETA billboard, encouraging pet owners to spay or neuter their four-legged friends.
