April 22 may be actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s birthday, but thanks to a devoted band of the actor’s fans, it’s also a special day for dogs in need of a helping hand.

Wanting to show appreciation for their favorite star, admirers of the Hollywood heartthrob turned to the actor’s mother for advice. As her son is a dog devotee with two barking buddies– Bisou and Bandit, a dog he rescued during the filming of the upcoming action flick The Losers in Puerto Rico– Mr. Morgan’s mother Sandy suggested donations to The Brittany Foundation. Located in Agua Dulce, California, this non-profit organization– which focuses its efforts on dogs deemed harder to place, including Pit Bulls and Dobermans as well as seniors and those who have been abused or have special needs– rescues, rehabilitates and provides a loving environment for all breeds until they find forever homes.

In 2009 the Jeffrey Dean Morgan Birthday Project raised $5,000, with each 100% tax deductible dollar donated to the charity drive going to The Brittany Foundation. Aiming to top that total in 2010, DonateJDM.org is once again asking for fans to show their support with a donation.

We really want to thank you for your thoughtfulness of including us in the food sharing. We take only the animals that are about to be euthanized immediately and so appreciate the help as there have been quite a few lately. If there is ANYTHING we can do to help your foundation, we sure hope you will let us know. Please accept our sincere gratitude from the bottom of our paws. XOXO
Perhaps even an adoption event on the Ventura strip. We are happy to give you all the space you would need.
