Mya Spokesperson for North Shore Animal League America’s Tour of Life 2010

Her fancy footwork may have landed the songbird just shy of a first place finish in the ninth season of Dancing with the Stars, but Mya definitely holds the number one spot in the hearts of her four-legged family members. The proud parent of four dogs and two cats (seen in the photo above), the entertainer was eager to help the North Shore Animal League (where she had adopted her feline friends Mellow and Journey) during the organization’s 10th annual Tour for Life.

“My professional life can be hectic and demanding and having the love and companionship of my animals provides me with peace and balance. My pets are both calming and energizing and each day I realize how grateful I am to have them in my life. I would encourage anyone to consider bringing an animal into their lives, and especially to go to a shelter and rescue a homeless pet. You will be saving an innocent, precious life and giving yourself the most amazing gift possible.”

Sponsored by Purina®, each adopted pet will receive a free bag of Purina ONE® brand pet food and a goodie bag from Purina ONE®. The world’s largest cooperative mobile pet adoption event, made possible by the world’s largest no-kill rescue and adoption organization, will travel to 17 states in Mobile Adoption Units to help find forever homes for pets in over 100 shelters and rescue groups before a Grand Finale celebration, hosted by Mya, takes place in New York City’s Times Square on April 27, 2010.
