Maria Menounos Poses for Last Chance for Animals Ad

As an Access Hollywood correspondent Maria Menounos may report the latest Tinseltown
tidbits, but behind the scenes the TV personality uses her star wattage to shine a spotlight on shelter pets.

Menounos has four four-legged family members including two Bichon Frises named Benjamin and Baby, a white German Shepherd called Apollo–who was thrown from a moving vehicle before being adopted by the celebrity reporter at a shelter– and a poodle dubbed Athena. Demonstrating the joys of pet rescue adoption in her daily life, the TV star has also emphasized shelter adoption through her efforts as ambassador to Purina’s Mighty Dog Nation, her hosting duties at the 2008 North Shore Animal League’s Dogcatemy Celebrity Gala, the filming of a Today show segment on puppy mills (an assignment which brought Athena to her attention) and through a recent photoshoot for Last Chance for Animals.
