Rascal The New Record Holder For Ugly Dog Contest Wins

As the old adage goes, “pretty is as pretty does,” and that makes Rascal– the Rover dubbed the Ugliest Dog Alive– a “fetching” Fido, indeed. The 6.5-lb. African Sand Dog (often attributed to the Chinese Crested breed) recently walked away with his 10th ugliest dog title, and like a true champion, Rascal (and his human parent, actor Dane Andrew) donated his winnings from the recent first annual Oroville Ugly & Beautiful contest to local shelters.

The charismatic canine has accumulated an array of accolades since first stepping on stage in the 2002 World’s Ugliest Dog contest. A star in his own right, Rascal has appeared in five fright flicks, has been dubbed Batdog by Batman himself Adam West in a “Walk of Stars” dedication, and has carried home trophies from “Regal Cinema’s Hotel for Dogs” Ugly Dog Contest; Author Tim Downs’ Ugly Dog Contest; and the PSPCA “I’m so Ugly I’m Cute” contest, among others.

A rescue dog with a desire to help homeless pets, Rascal spreads the message to spay or neuter, and to adopt from local shelters, and a portion of the proceeds from the tail-waggers trademark Hot Dog Leash line, which is available on Rascal’s web site, benefits animal rescue.
