Celebrities Host Race for the Rescues

Tie the laces on your running shoes and get ready to jog for the sake of dogs and cats at the 5th annual Race for the Rescues!

Since its inception, this Fido-friendly event– which is hosted by The Rescue Train– has raised more than $300,000 for non-profit dog and cat rescue sites and animal welfare organization, thanks in part to the animal-loving luminaries who have utilized their star wattage to shine a spotlight on the fun run. In 2010 three top Tinseltown stars will act as celebrity co-hosts for this happening with heart–Emmy-winning Glee star Jane Lynch, former Boy Meets World star/ Momma to a Maltese Danielle Fishel, who currently serves fashionably funny clips on The Style Network show The Dish, and Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba. Disney Channel darling Allisyn Ashley Arm from Sonny with a Chance will host a kid’s race, and Seamus Dever and Jon Huertas from the ABC series Castle and Ron Butler from True Jackson, VP will also be on hand to show their support for this cause for our four-pawed pals.

Get up to speed on all the activities lined up for race day:

• In support of Fidos and felines alike, head for the finish line in either a 5K or 10K run/walk. Every racer receives an official race T-shirt. Children ages 12 and under can also participate in a 1 mile kids race, with each little one receiving a medal for their effort.

• Talented tail-waggers will waltz away with your heart during a Dancing with Dogs demonstration.

• Celebrities may be hosting the event, but the dogs and cats up for adoption will be the true stars of Race for the Rescues. Find a new furry member for your family among the many pets from LA Animal Services and the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA. Don’t miss the Rockin’ Adoption Show!

• Peruse for purchases among booths brimming with pet products.
