Celebrities Donate to Collars for A Cause Auction

A lineup of luminaries have unleashed their artistic abilities to create lavish dog and cat collars for the sake of SNAP, or Spay/Neuter Assistance Program, a Houston, Texas-based organization which fights the plight of pet overpopulation through free and reduced-cost spaying and neutering, especially in low-income areas. The non-profit has successfully sterilized more than 350,000 pets since the organization’s founding in 1993.

Following are just a few of the creative collars which are currently up for bid:

• A leather collar hand-painted with a musical motif by Glee star Mark Salling will bring out Rover’s inner rock star, while the autographed headshot of the actor who portrays Puck (who, in real life, is the proud Poppa of a Blue Heeler named Hank) will make the dog-loving recipient feel like singing.
• The dog who gets to don the paw print pattern collar designed by talk show host Joy Behar will be the talk of the town. The person placing the highest bid will also receive a copy of the children’s book “Sheetzucacapoopoo: My Kind of Dog,” which was written by the co-host of The View.
• Chelsea Handler interviews A-listers on her highly-rated late night talk show, and the dog who wears her autographed brown leather collar will no doubt feel like a star. Paired with the collar is a signed copy of “Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang.”
• The hearts drawn on comedienne/Drop Dead Diva cast member Margaret Cho‘s autographed collar will make one lucky dog look drop dead gorgeous.
• Bearded ZZ Top band member Dusty Hill created a guitar pick-accented collar for the sake of our barking buddies. The collar features a dangling adornment– a ZZ Top keychain.
• Houston Dynamo Brian Ching chose a marine theme for his collar for the cause. Pastel sea turtles seem to float around the athlete’s signature.
• HGTV personalities Lisa Laporta and Clive Pearse‘s collars are Designed to Sell. Doggie bones adorn the nylon collar created by Clive Pearse, who is animal lover who works closely with the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation, while tiny tools accent Lisa Laporta’s canine accessory. Both collars, which are up for auction separately, come with an autographed copy of a Designed to Sell book.

Along with the celebrity collar auction, luxury packages are also up for bid, including tickets to see Selena Gomez in concert, a one-of-a-kind dog house by Cabot & Rowe, a stylish Elaine Turner SIERRA bag signed by Elaine, a Rover Oaks Pet Resort “Pamper Your Pooch” package and the Deogi Dog Daycare, Spa and Resort unlimited package.
