My Dog’s Name: Lilly

Age of My Dog: 11 yrs

Breed: Shih-Poo

What I Love About My Dog: Lilly has taught me how to be strong. Lilly is battling two forms of cancer: thyroid carcinoma which has metastasized and she had a grade II mast cell tumor removed 6 weeks ago. It’s been a rollercoaster ride since February 2010. What I love most about Lilly is her courage, her personality (goofy), her tenacity to fight the cancer, enduring 2 major surgeries and undergoing chemotherapy at present. What I love about Lilly is her zest for life, her determination to win this battle against cancer and how the little things make her happy, like a butt rub, scratching her ears, playing with her toys, cuddling in my arms, licking my face, and I love to hear her sigh of contentment in my arms, when I am stroking her head or just holding her close. She has brought such joy to my life in the 11 years she has been a member of our family and I am hoping and praying for many more.

    Thank you so much for this honor! Since this was submitted, Lilly has had 3 chemo treatments and happy to say so far she is tolerating them pretty well, minimal side effects and good bloodwork. She brings us so much joy, she’s like my child, and each day is a gift and I am hoping and praying that the chemo will give her a happy long life.

    I really love dogs. Actually, also got shih-poo on my own. What I can say is that there’s no room for sympathy because I know Lily will make. She will survive these trials and challenges. Long live Lily. An even if I dont know you at all, I’ll include you in my prayers.

    Thank you! I think I posted Lilly’s badge to my FB page correctly, and again thank you for the honor of being chosen Dog of the Day and for all the kind comments. Since she was originally chosen, she completed her chemo on 8-12-10, just had chest films done, they were clear (Praise the Lord!) and she is holding her own pretty well, thankfully.
