Adoptable Dog of the Day: Beau in Mississippi

Handsome Beau has had a tough start in life but he’s ready for a forever home now. Just over a year old, this border collie mix and his mother arrived at a shelter in December 2010. It appears that Beau had been hit by a car as a puppy and his leg was broken but it healed on its own. Beau’s mother was treated for cancer on her neck. Throughout her treatment, she continued to care for Beau.

Now Beau and his mother are seeking a new home together! Their caretakers say, “They made it this far caring and loving and protecting each other.” These two deserve a great home together!

Not sure when but I has heard that the nearby city of Rochester was voting on a DOG BREED RESTRICTION being put to a vote. I wrote a brief e-mail to the persons that were supposed to handle the questions and comments about this issue. This was the reply I got from him.

    “Greetings,

Recently you sent an email voicing your objection to breed specific legislation. Rochester Hills is not considering a breed specific ordinance but instead has recently amended the dog ordinance to deal with any breed that proves itself dangerous or vicious by stronger containment requirements and fines for the owners of such dogs. I hope this ends your concern.”

This was from Bob White Rochester Hills City Hall.
The ASPCA, were the folks that informed me about this BAN on “dangerous breeds” and I felt I should tell this ill-informed man that there are no dangerous breeds.. only dangerous owners who trian their K9s to do horrid things to other people & animals. So in return I get this reply.
Don’t you think that the ASPCA looked into this action before they went off and asked folks to speak up about it?
