Dog of the Day: Annie, Icelandic Sheepdog

My Dog’s Name: Annie

Age of My Dog: 13 years

Breed: Icelandic Sheepdog

What I Love About My Dog: Annie is a very special part of my life. We have been best friends since I found her in the pound. She was severely abused and came with a lot of baggage and sadness, but once we bonded she has been my greatest companion and protector. She is getting older now, and the thought of her leaving me often brings tears to my eyes, but I know she has lived a good life and we have had so much fun together. She really enjoys the snow and playing tug of war and bossing around her younger brother Dakota. The adage “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” doesn’t apply to her, she is as eager to learn today as she was 12 years ago. Annie has so much to teach people about the love of an animal and what it means for them to be a companion. I only hope that I have given her as much as she has given me.
