Adoptable Dog of the Day: Lyn in Missouri

Adoptable dog’s name: Lyn

Location (city, state) of adoptable pet: St. Louis, MO

Age of adoptable dog: 1 year

Breed: Terrier Mix

What makes this dog special: Lyn is a super sweet, smaller Terrier mix who is housebroken, crate trained (in fact she loves her crate) likes other dogs, knows many commands (sit, down, stay, paw, off, crate, leave it), walks well on a leash, okay with kids, and just all-around fantastic dog. She loves basking in the sun or on your lap waiting to be petted, or playing tug with her foster brothers and sisters. She even likes walking on the treadmill (see video)!

What kind of household would be best for this dog?: Lyn would be good in any household – kids, dogs, etc. We haven’t tried her with cats yet. though.

Special recommendations, restrictions for adoption of this dog: Lyn loves going for car rides, but gets very anxious in new places (defensive barking and stand-off-ish), so she’s not one to go to crowded areas a lot. She’s working on it though. She’d be happy going camping or hiking with you, or just staying at home by your side.

About the rescue or shelter with this dog: Stray Rescue’s sole purpose is to rescue stray animals in need of medical attention, restore them to health, and place them in loving adoptive homes. Virtually all of the pets we save have been abused and neglected. They’ve been dumped on highways, or remote country roads. Abandoned in public parks, empty houses and dark alleys. We’ve even saved dogs left chained behind buildings after their owners had moved away.

As a no-kill organization, and working as the city of St. Louis’ only “pound”, pets from Stray Rescue seem to understand that they have a second lease on life. In return for a little affection and attention, these remarkable animals reward their new owners with a love and loyalty unmatched anywhere.

Stray Rescue is made up of three shelters and many foster homes to help acclimate the nearly 600 dogs in our system.
