Some Clues : German Shepherd seems certain, but the breed mix is unclear. Jake is mostly white with beige/cream coloring on his back, face, backs of his legs and tip of his tail. He also has some occasional black hairs on his body. He doesn't seem to have webbing between his toes. Jake weighs 85 lbs and has soft fur. He's very energetic, responds well to training, and friendly with all animals and people; he's playful with my cats, but doesn't harm them. He loves long walks, affection, playing with or without toys, and is particularly obsessed with his Kong ball...It's almost always in his mouth. He dislikes baths, but that's about it. Jake is a great watchdog who barks at the sound of a noise outside, but is not aggressive toward people.
My Guess of Breeds: German Shepherd mixed with Lab, Husky, Alaskan Malamute or even Belgian Shepherd Malinois.

Some Clues : Brown eyes, with black dogliner. Slight wrinkles in his forehead.One ear likes to flop most of the time. He's 57 pounds and has short, fawn colored hair with a white area on his chest that is a little spotted on his skin(not fur). The hair is soft in some spots, coarse in others. He has a slightly darker gold/red stripe down the middle of his back. His paws look like they're partially webbed but he doesn't like to get them wet! Not a retriever or hunter for sure. Laid back, loves people but not interested in animals (always friendly). Loves to ride in a convertible - he isn't ambitious enough to jump out! Couch potato tendencies but has several bursts of crazy energy each day.

She has a nonstop nose!! It is ALWAYS searching and investigating-
She wears a wrinkled forehead most of the time although she can make them disappear.
She is deep chested
She has a tail that is always wagging
All Pink tongue
Her hackles are sensitive and the least bit of excitement will have them bristled.--Playdate with fave doggie buddy---noise next door-- playing with our cats--whatever
She has thick muscular thighs-
not shown well in this photo but from the back view those thighs really bulge out,huge and strong for her size!
Her chest is pretty thick and muscular too.
She can make great leaps (Gazelle-like) and can aslo make great verticle jumps up high from a seated/standing position(not a running start)landing right on top of a lumber pile or boulder.BONG -- and she is up!
She is a laid back almost lazy sort of girl having no problem sleeping all day and all night. NAP QUEEN!
Daily bursts of playing fetch or a walk is enough to keep her happy and content.
BUT when she gets the chance to play with other dogs there is no wearing her out!!! Hours at the dog park--full throttle! (followed by a massive nap-of course!)
She loves to RUN RUN RUN!! And be chased.
She is built for it too. She is very very fast! And she has great stamina.
Uma has no problem staying a healthy weight.
She has strong jaws--it is easy to play tug and pick her all the way off the ground while she hangs onto the stick or rope.
She is a very friendly dog.
Submissive and friendly to other dogs.
Is good with people/children--she is a working Therapy Dog.
Enjoys digging
Enjoys curling up with her people on the couch or in the bed
Enjoys car rides
Enjoys sticks and fetching her squeaky tennis ball(ten minutes or so then she is done)
Water is ok--she could take it or leave it. Does not seem to be magnetically attracted to water like retrievers but she will dapple in a creek and dig/push over rocks investigating and playing.
She is happiest/most at ease when we are all together. Is on the "lookout" the whole time that one of us is out.
We were told upon adoption that her mother was a hound.
Common breeds people like to suggest that she is mixed with are:

Have heard this one more than I would have thought must be Something about the head shape/wrinkles/body type--she is much much much smaller though?
Ridgeback? color/shape but she is much smaller

Some Clues : The shelter said he was a beagle, but he grew and grew... Now about 80 pounds, he stands nearly hip high and can eat off the kitchen counters without stretching. He has an unearthly howl, and will often howl at passing animals on the street. Wally's stubborn and lazy, but will run like the wind when he feels like it. He's very mellow and even-tempered, and gets along with other dogs and even cats, but will try to tree squirrels and has occasionally caught birds on the wing. Very loving and affectionate. I guess his most notable characteristics are "big", "howls", "chases small animals" and "definitely not a beagle."

Some Clues: Murdoc is a very fun, energetic and LOVING dog! He was abandoned when we found him, so we are not exactly sure of his age. He still acts like a puppy and is full of energy; when he passes out he is dead asleep! He absolutely loves to cuddle.
He has an off white coat,and his hair is pretty soft all over, but softest on his head and ears. His fur is slightly darker around his eyes. When he gets scared or excited about something the hair in the center and down his back goes up like a ridgeback. He has a pretty thin build but is strong. His nose and gums are pinkish brown.
He is extremely expressive, especially with his facial expressions and voice. He makes all sorts of silly, "talking" noises, especially when he is excited or anxious.
He loves to play with ANY other animal. And if no other animal is around, he will entertain and play with himself. He can jump really high, he is like a ninja! We are constantly amazed at his jumping!
Murdoc is extremely well behaved, intelligent and loyal. We would just love to know what breeds he is and we would love to hear what everyone else thinks!

Some Clues : Now at almost 8 months, she is standing at about 18.5 inches tall and weighs around 22lbs. Hair combination is mixed with short and long hairs with the long hairs mainly around the neck and tail. Very soft fur. Ears and muzzle similar to a German Shepherd -pointed upwards and round. Tail is thin and has a slight angle/bend to the tail when its up high.
Behavior-very protective of its owner, while at the same time very friendly and socialable. Most of the time obedient (she is in her "teenage" stage... can't hold it totally against her :) ). Gets along great with most other animals big and small, but has a fear/intimidation of yeppy dogs.
Runs in circles as if herding. Very athletic-having to enroll her in an agility class because she enjoys making obstacle courses with the living room furniture and dragging her roommate dog who is bigger than her through her obstacle course!! Not to mention the leaping over the BACK of the living room couch and jumping onto the kitchen table without even trying! An endless amount of energy-have to run her for at minimum of 2 hours at the dog park before she even slightly shows being tired.
Has a couple of "OCD" mannerisms-there's this weird nose flicking thing with her food (we often find her food everywhere because she flips the bowl over as she does her thing). Has to clean her feet frequently -not uncommon to see her whole foot in her mouth while doing so! Loves to dig in her water bowl-something trying hard to curb as she is making a mess on the floor while I am not home!

Some Clues : Hi, I'm Indiana. I was rescued in North Carolina and sent to my new home in Arlington, VA. Everyone said I was a lab, german shepherd, beagle mix, but within a week, my new family knew otherwise. I have the back hair of a german shepherd, but I hate to swim, get cold easily, love to sit in the hot sun, think retrieving is waay less fun than chasing, am very stubborn when you first get to know me, am always hungry, and can find a dead bird under any bush. My favorite thing in the whole world to do is to hike and explore with my pack and although I am only 46 pounds at 7 months, I am a ferocious challenger at tug of war. You can even swing me around by my grip completely off the ground - I will never drop it! I am also incredible with my front paws, so watch out or I'll crawl right up your stomach while you swing me! Don't worry, I'm just playing. I'm as sweet as gentle as can be any other time, esp. around kids and other dogs - though I love to play.

HIGH energy, talents/instincts seem to lie in herding. Lean, sighthound-like frame with long legs and long face.

Some Clues : I got Milo as a tiny, eight week old puppy. He weighed about eight pounds then, but grew to 65 pounds. He's got a blue-merle short-haired coat with a dense undercoat, so he doesn't get cold easily but hates the heat. He looks like just an Australian cattle dog that's been scaled up an extra 20 pounds. He doesn't act much like a cattle dog, though - he doesn't much like exercise and hates running. He'll walk and hike, as he loves being outside, but he'll go as slowly as we'll let him and will sometimes stop altogether and lie down. He's been an old man since the day he was born, and much prefers sleeping and cuddling to physical activity. He loves food and gets fat if we don't restrict his intake. He is absolutely fascinated by small animals, and has spent entire days watching a hamster in a cage or hours trying to get to a mole in a hole (see picture!)

Some Clues : I got Chili from the shelter when she was about four or five months old, after she had already been a stray out on the streets. I believe she has some pit bull in her, given her looks and where she was found. I have no idea what else is in her, though, and would love to know.
She's got a short-haired coat with no undercoat. She weighs about 40 pounds, and is a very fast runner. Not only that, but she can run or hike, even up mountains, forever, at a consistently fast pace. She still runs four to five miles with me a few times a week even now at 10 years of age. She's been known to chase squirrels and such, but if she catches them she doesn't care - it's the chase that's important. She doesn't tire or get thirsty or hungry easily, but she gets upset if she doesn't get a lot of exercise or mental stimulation. She vocalizes a lot - not just barking, but grunting, grumbling, and yipping to get her point across.

Some Clues: She looks like a black lab at first glance, however she has small white markings on her belly and chest. She has tannish hair on the bottoms of her paws from the ankle down. She hates the water and loves to chase small animals.

Pookie Bear, 10-month-old male

Some Clues : Pookie Bear is a Beagle mix. He's now 16 months old, 24 lbs. with a sable coat and is well trained, very well behaved and loves to play with all the dogs, cats and kids that he meets. He can hold his own when playing with all the big dogs in the neighborhood including Mastiffs, Ridgebacks and Pit Bulls, but knows when to be gentle with the smaller and younger dogs as well.

My Dog: Maxie, 6-year-old female
Some Clues : I think Maxie is mostly a black Lab. She has a narrow white stripe on her chest. The rest of her is all black. She is about 70 lbs., her hair is wavy in places, unlike a full Lab. She loves my piano students (she lays next to the bench when they play!), walks, playing, going for rides in my husband's truck and her "snackies"! :-) She does NOT like baths.

Cooper: 10-month-old male
My Dog: Cooper, 10-month-old male
Some Clues : He's a very high energy dog, almost OCD. Loves to play toss and retrieve.
He has dark, almond-like eyes with dark skin around them. He has large floppy ears, where one of them has a different kink in it than the other. He has a darker muzzle than the rest of his head, with super floppy jowls.
His fur is fawn-colored, short, and smooth, but the more time he spends in the sun, the more we find coarse dark hairs appearing. His tail resembles the coloring of a German Shep. The fur on his head and chest are super soft. We initially thought there was some pit in him, but were told that by the ear placement and fur it's not likely.
His chest has a large white patch, and you can see his skin is almost spotted underneath. He looks like a large breed mix, but has a trim body and only weighs between 45 and 50lbs.
He has a slight wrinkle in his forehead, and a lot of extra skin, but a big old pink tongue.
He's extremely intelligent and picks up new tricks/tasks easily. He gets along with other dogs and people, but tends to avoid un-altered dogs.
When he plays with other dogs he bats at them sometimes, and LOVES to jump.
