Diet & Fitness Gift Guide: Lickety Stik

This time of year, we’re all looking for ways to watch calories…and that includes the calories we give to our dogs. Many treats can be high in calories and that can really add up, especially when you’re doing training with your dog and using many treats per session. Training treats may be small but they add up.

We’ve just tried a really fun, low-calorie option for training treats: Lickety Stik™ from PetSafe. Made in the US, this treat comes in rollerball form (similar to roll-on deodorant) and gives you a way to treat your dog for just one calorie for every ten licks!

Lickety Stik is available in three flavors: bacon, chicken and liver. All-natural ingredients are used including mixed tocopherols (a source of vitamin E) for a preservative. Recently Lickety Stik was named one of the six top pet products of the year on ABC’s “Good Morning, America” by veterinarian Dr. Marty Becker.

You’ll have 500 treats per bottle, so this is a money saver, and it’s also a nice option for people like us who wind up with pockets full of treats (that we don’t discover until laundry time!) Just shake up the Lickety Stik, uncap the top and you’re ready to present it as a treat as you train.

Both Irie and Tiki loved the taste, and this was a fun way to treat our dogs during our training session! A big paws up for Lickety Stik as a way to add fun to your training sessions without adding calories.

Price: Lickety Stik sells for $8.99 per bottle or $19.95 for a pack of three bottles.

For More Information:

Disclosure: We received a free sample bottle of Lickety Stik in our goodie bag at a pet bloggers’ conference; we were not paid for our review and all statements are entirely our own.

I purchased 2 Lickety Stick for Schooner and Skipper. Schooner thought he could take the whole bottle and just lay down and lick it by himself…Skipper let me hold it for him without trying to take it away from me.  They both loved the taste.  I purchased a chicken and liver.  I found it at Pet Plus. I use it for a reward when we come home and they have not destroyed the house.  I can put it in my purse…Schooner and Skipper know that if we do not find a mess and I can good boys they get to lick the Lickety Stick.

LOL…that’s exactly what Tiki did with it! (That’s why Tiki doesn’t appear in these pictures…she liked it TOO much and decided she’d just walk off with it!)

These look like they would be great for long hikes.  The treats would not get soggy in my pocket from sweat.
