OK, I am going to be the first to admit that I’m not really into dog grooming. I love clean dog fur…but I like the rough and tumble look of a plain old dog coat. However, I know that many dog lovers appreciate the art of grooming.
We’ve got a copy of the new book Grooming, photographed by Paul Nathan, to give away to one reader. Paul Nathan became enamored with the idea of capturing the most manicured and primped Poodles, Cocker spaniels, Bichon Frises, Bedlington Terriers and more. He focused on the texture of the coat and the expression, photographing most of the dogs in this book at high profile grooming competitions and paying special attention to the aesthetic accomplishments of some of the world’s top dog groomers. The images in the creative grooming section of “Groomed” were taken last April at Intergroom in New Jersey. Intergroom is one of the largest international conferences of its kind in the world with more than 2000 dog and cat groomers attending each year. His portraits also document the ‘creative’ category where the dog’s hair or fur is manipulated into shapes or scenes and dyed with nontoxic dyes in different colors.
